Over the years, I’ve seen elements of our work pop up all over the place. I think that’s awesome and see only benefits from derivations and inspirations. So, you’re free to take what I do and improve upon it, as artists have been doing for centuries.
There is no need to email me for permission.
You can email it, share it, copy it, or reprint it. All I ask is that you give credit for the original work. A simple “originally published at MatthewSimpson.com” or “based upon original works created by Matthew Simpson” would be great. Do what feels right, but don’t do it out of obligation.
I do ask that you don’t re-post my content in it’s entirety. This is only because Google penalizes websites for publishing duplicate content because it often can’t tell which site hosts the original, so I risk getting penalized myself for granting permission. A good way around this is to extract and re-post 200 words or less on any other site, then link back to my original post. Thanks for your help with this.
As you can imagine, the above permission guidelines don’t apply to the content others post here. Guest bloggers retain the copyright to the posts they create. If you are interested in re-posting or publishing their content, you must contact them directly. I can’t serve as a broker, agent, or contact point for them.
Regarding paid content: Of course, I’d prefer that people buy my ebooks and paid content – it’s how I put food on the table for my family – but if you want to share something with friends, you have every right to do so. I only ask that you don’t take my ebooks (or other paid content) and resell them or post them for public consumption.
If you have some other use for my content that is not covered here, please contact me.
